A Quietening of the Senses
The Age, Cheap Eats 2008

A quietening of the senses doesn’t have to mean dull food. Run by followers of Sri Chinmoy, this light-filled space – with its calming pale-blue décor and chilled-out staff – is a magnet for fans of wholesome food and spiritual serenity. At lunch times there’s a gentle rendition of massaman curry, lightly spiced dhal, and ‘neatloaf’, a baked protein hit of tofu, rice, cottage cheese and eggs, topped with barbeque glaze. Greek yoghurt and berry smoothies with rose syrup are for fans of potpourri only but a freshly squeezed ‘zinger’ of orange, lemon, apple and ginger is an all-round crowd pleaser.
